Starting 2011 off right...with a blog post!

I have totally dropped the ball on our blog over the last couple months (sigh) but one of my many new years resolutions is to maintain the blog on a much more consistent basis. There are so many things I love about blogging but mostly I love writing about our daily lives and knowing that the words are there for us to go back on and read on a rainy day. I also love sharing with family and friends and making a commitment and sticking with it. Blogging keeps me on track with the commitment thing. Believe it or not, I feel guilty when I don't post. Maybe blogging is my substitute for the gym... that is another resolution, but we won't get into that now.

Our lives these days have been busy, not all that exciting, but very happy nonetheless. Recently, Jon and I have been talking a lot about how lucky we are and how we are fortunate to have a wonderful groups of friends, new and old, here in D.C. Perhaps it's the nature of D.C., a very transient city where friends come and go frequently, or perhaps it is the beginning of the new year that has sparked these conversations. Whatever the cause of our recent conversations, I'm glad we are having them and even more grateful for our friendships. We both are a good distance from our families, so our friends here in D.C. are very much like our families.

Sadly, we are about to lose a very dear friend to another city. Jen was my roommate when I moved to D.C. and we lived together for three years. We were fast friends and have been ever since. Jen has decided it's time for a change and she will be moving to Chicago this June. Obviously, we are very sad to see her go, but really want her to be happy-cliche, I know! Jon and I will have all the more reason to visit Chicago more frequently. Jen, Lindsey, Aaron, Yaw, oh my! As you can see we have a long list of friends that live in Chicago and will most definitely be making another visit there soon.

We wish everyone a very happy and healthy new year! 2011 will bring lots of excitement and also lots of blogging on our end! Wooohooo!
