I really need to be better about updating my blog and I was reminded of that unfortunately by some terrible news I received this morning. First, the bad news. An old high school friend of mine passed yesterday after fighting double pneumonia and complications that followed. She had a 2 1/2 year old son and an 11 month old son, along with a sweet and loving husband, whom I also went to high school with. This news is terribly sad and a reminder of how we never know how long we have here on earth with our loved ones.
I was reading the sweet posts that friends and family were writing on her Facebook wall this afternoon and someone commented on how wonderful it was that Lindsay (we shared the same name and also the same birthday) kept a blog. She wrote down her memories, the stories of her and her family, and her feelings, that now serve as a wonderful gift to her children, family, and friends. I certainly hate to make the association between blogging and dying, but I think you all get my point... I've always said that one of my favorite things about keeping my blog is how I can go back to it on a rainy day and re-read the stories of our lives. I certainly hope that our friends and family enjoy reading about our adventures, but I would be lying if I said that was the only reason why I blogged. I do it not only for those sharing purposes, but also for Jon and I to keep track our our memories. I only hope one day that our children and grandchildren will go back and read about our lives. It is most definitely a valuable gift that can be shared for a lifetime.
I am vowing to myself to blog as much as possible and to never take one moment for granted. Let the loss of my sweet friend Lindsay be a reminder to us all- life is precious and should be cherished each and every day.
With love,
Lindsay
